As we head into the new year, we wanted to reflect on 2023 and the community activity that our wonderful Hibberts team have taken part in last year.
Local Events
The Nantwich Show is always one of our biggest local events and we have been attending for many years. In 2023, we were thrilled to receive a 2nd place rosette for our ‘Professional Services’ stand, and the weather held up too, which is always a bonus! A massive thank you and well done to the organisers and everyone who came to see us on the day.
We had a fantastic time at the Everybody Health & Leisure Awards in October, where we sponsored the Chairman’s Award. The team looked amazing and it was a fantastic evening celebrating the award nominees and winners, including Torbjorn who won our category!
South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business Awards is another longstanding community event that we support. Held annually in November, we continued our sponsorship of the ‘Business of the Year (under 25 employees)’ category last year. Congratulations to all of the winners, especially The Nantwich Clinic who won the category we sponsored. The judges were incredibly impressed with them!
December began with our attendance at the Alpha-Omega WPS Foundation annual dinner. The organisation exists to involve, educate and assist women in local communities to achieve peace and security. They also seek to protect women from systematic oppression, misogyny and racism.
And of course, we couldn’t miss the Market Drayton Christmas Livestock Fair! John Gibbons and Oliver Lewis wrapped up warm and thankfully the chilly weather didn’t put them off.
Supporting Local Education
October saw us return to Ellesmere College for their Careers Fair, where Rowena Buckley and Michael Ward had a very busy day meeting lots of students and chatting to them about a career in law and the pathways they can take.
At Keele University in November, Rowena was joined by Tom Jones to speak to the undergraduates at their careers fair. There was lots of interest in law as a future career path and you never know, we may even see Keele graduates at Hibberts in the future!
Charity Activity
At Hibberts, we are keen to support our local charities and our team is amazing at getting involved and raising money for all kinds of causes. This year has been no exception.
Last year we announced that we would be the Pearl Sponsor of Christie’s Pearl Ball supporting the Nantwich Christie Hospital Support Group at their fundraising ball at Wrenbury Hall in June this year. We had a fantastic night raising money for this amazing charity.
In October We ‘wore it pink’ in all five of our offices in support of raising money for BreastCancerNow and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Where we raised an incredible £136.80. This is very close to our hearts and we think everyone looked in the pink!
We continued our long-term support in October for St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice with Wills Week. Clients donated to the charity instead of paying our fees. Wills Week is something we have supported for a number of years and raises money to support the wonderful care they provide at the Hospice.
Also, in October, Stewart Bailey and Chris Boundy volunteered at Mid Cheshire Mind to build furniture and help set up their new office in Winsford. It will be opening soon to provide a warm and welcoming mental well-being hub in the centre of Winsford. Well done to everyone involved in such an important project!
We also took part in the Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee morning and raised £184.20 for our spooktacular cakes, which were delicious!
December was particularly busy for the team with lots of charity activity, including:
The Dunelm Delivering Joy campaign where local charities – The Wishing Well Project, The Salvation Army, Springfield School, Crewe and South Cheshire Clasp – will receive 25 bags of gifts donated by our colleagues. Well done to everyone involved and especially to Michaela Warner for organising it!!
We know that it is always hard on families at Christmas, so we have donated to three local food banks, who were very grateful for our support, especially in the current climate.
We also got very festive across our offices for Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity. Not only did we raise money for a fantastic local charity, but we kept warm in the cold weather too!
Finally for 2023, our Hibberts Elves took part in the Mind Mental Elf fun run at Trentham Estate Gardens on Sunday 10th December in support of North Staffs Mind. The event was lots of fun and some of our little elves joined in as well!! Well done to everyone who took part in their festive outfits.
As you can see, we had a very busy 2023 supporting our community, so all that remains is for the Hibberts Team to wish you a very Happy 2024!
