Tony Dimelow has yet again been successful in his application to be re-accredited to the Law Society`s Children Panel for a further 3 years having been on the Children’s Panel continuously now for over 10 years. This Accreditation is the quality mark for legal professionals working in family and children law, particularly those who represent children.

Children are often at the heart of Family Law and when a child’s involved, you want to be sure you’re getting the best legal support available. Tony has been a solicitor with Hibberts LLP since qualifying in 1988 and specialises in representing parents or children in Care and Supervision proceedings issued by the Local Authority. He deals with all aspects of Public Law children issues.

Tony has shown that he has achieved the required level of competence and knowledge, as defined by the Law Society in the area of children law and the representation of children. To become accredited, legal practitioners have to undergo a rigorous process, which includes mandatory training and an interview assessment in front of a panel of experts. The accreditation covers all types of children law work and is recognised by the Legal Aid Agency.

This Accreditation is only available to solicitors who can demonstrate that they possess the required level of competence and knowledge in legal matters relating to children. It is a means of identification for professionals such as Guardian’s to identify suitably qualified solicitors when representation of a child is required.

Approval to the Law Society’s Children’s Panel means that Tony must have personally conducted cases and represented parties in children proceedings and carried out advocacy for clients. He also must also have a thorough awareness of ethical issues that can arise in children cases as well as an up-to-date knowledge of guidance, legislation, case law and practice developments. Tony has also had to demonstrate the ability to work directly with children, explore their competence and understand their wishes and feelings.

Tony follows the Law Society Code of Practice for Children Law. The code outlines the standards of practice and conduct expected of accredited members throughout their accreditation. You can find out more about our Child Law Services here.
