As we approach the end of the year, it’s a wonderful time to reflect on all that we’ve accomplished, the connections we have fostered within our community in 2024, and, of course, the celebrations for our 225th anniversary! From sponsorships and charitable activities to team achievements and exciting events, here’s a recap of our highlights:
Community Sponsorships
We were proud to support the Christ Church – Church of England Primary School in Warrington for their football team. The team played in the Year 5 & 6 Cheshire School Finals at Alex Soccer Centre proudly wearing a kit sponsored by Hibberts.
We also sponsored Tarporley Victoria Junior Football Club Under 12’s for the 2024/25 season with their playing kit and rain jackets. The team look amazing in their new attire!
Community Events and Networking
We offered our Pillory Street office in Nantwich for the Grafters Networking meeting in March, which was a fantastic and engaging event, connecting local professionals and fostering collaboration.
In May, Dan, Sarah and Tara visited Richmond Villages in Nantwich for their Discovery Day and were excited to meet residents and have a chat about the legal services we cover and promote the community spirit.
One of our conveyancers, Abigail Morrison, had a moment of fame by appearing on The Cat Radio podcast in August as part of their regular ‘Listener Advice’ slot talking about Residential Conveyancing. She was followed by Imogen Gorst, Mark Tromans, Camille Renaudon, Tony, Stewart and Nicky Platt who all contrinbuted to the Listener Advice slot as part or our ongoing sponsorship of Cat Radio.
The Nantwich Show continues to be one of our biggest local events which we have attended for many years. This year was one of the busiest yet and we were delighted to see many of our customers visit our stand and say hello, especially as our marquee this year heralded the start of our 225th anniversary celebrations. Even better, the sun came out!
Mark Tromans and Stewart Bailey represented the Hibberts team to showcase our expertise and engage with industry leaders at the Cheshire Business Expo in September, held at Crewe Alexandra Football Club – Mornflake Stadium and featured businesses and organisations from across the county.
And, of course, we continued our support for the South Cheshire Chamber Annual Business Awards held at Crewe Hall. We sponsored the Business of the Year (under 25 employees), of which KR Fleet Solutions were very worthy winners. Crewe Hall did not disappoint, and all of the finalists and winners had a fantastic night.
Charitable Support
In June this year, Hibberts were proud to have sponsored Harriet, one of our Partner’s daughters in her quest to raise money for Douglas Macmillan Hospice (Dougie Mac). Harriet gave up her 8th birthday party and instead hosted a sponsored fitness class to raise money for this wonderful charity.
Ollie Lewis, Adrian Forster and Chris Boundy were proud to represent Hibberts at charity golf day at Trentham Park Golf Course in August. It was a great day out in and raised over £9000 in aid of a fantastic cause – Headcase Cancer Trust, the only charity in the UK that solely funds research to find a cure for GBM brain tumours.
We also continued our support for the Nantwich Christie Hospital Support Group with their Big Birthday Bass for an amazing cause. The event raised an incredible £9,850, which we know will go a long way towards their work.
At the beginning of November, organised by Michaela Warner and Sarah Bowers, the Hibberts team showed their generosity once again by donating 24 gift bags full of goodies to the local Dunelm in Crewe for their ‘Delivering Joy’ Christmas Campaign. The Wishing Well Project, The Salvation Army International (Crewe Corps) and Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity received the gifts. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support.
And, once more, we supported both the Crewe and the Nantwich Foodbank with their “Advent Appeal” donating dozens of bags of provisions.
Mid-December saw some of the team, and their children take part in the Mid Cheshire Mind Mental Elf run which was held at Reaseheath College. They all got into the festive spirit and the Elf costumes were amazing!
Professional and Team Milestones
2024 has seen some new additions to the Hibberts team with Mark Tromans bringing his talent as our new Head of Corporate and Commercial Law.
Larissa Solan and Joel Brookes joined us as trainee solicitors and are progressing on their journeys towards their qualifications. Speaking of which, Michaela Warner celebrated a well-deserved achievement in becoming a specialist in Trusts and Estates through her STEP Qualification
In July, it was announced that Oliver Lewis, a Partner in our Agricultural Department, had taken on the prestigious role of Honorary Solicitor for The Nantwich Show. We were delighted with the news as Ollie is using his wealth of knowledge and expertise to support such an important local event.
Every year, Hibberts has a Christmas Advent with gifts from local businesses, that are wrapped up. Each day a name is drawn from the ‘hat’ and the winner takes home that day’s gift. This year the gifts were purchased from Inside Paradise and Pillory House Coffee Shop & Gallery, both in Nantwich.
Celebrating 225 Years
And finally, 2024 saw our 225th Anniversary a remarkable milestone for any business! We celebrated our 225th anniversary at Iscoyd Park in Whitchurch. Our journey began in 1799 when Mr. Finchett was recorded in the London Gazette as a solicitor. In 1820 his son James Finchett-Maddock went on to be the clerk of Chester and in 1871 the firm moved into Nantwich. Through a succession of solicitors and a series of mergers and moves in 2007, the current Hibberts LLP emerged – continuing the rich tradition of providing personal and practical legal advice to its clients within the local community through our offices in Nantwich, Crewe, Tarporley and Whitchurch.
This year has been a testament to our team and as we look forward to 2025, we remain committed to making a positive impact and supporting those around us. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey this year – here’s to the next 225 years of success!
