Hibberts Solicitors were once again involved in a hotly contested case – this time it was a raft race at the Overwater Marina RNLI Festival which took place on 7th and 8th September.
The Overwater Marina RNLI Festival hosted lots of family fun, including ferret racing, a famous dog show, Riding Club Show, a steam roller as well as much-needed refreshments. A fantastic crowd turned out to watch the race (although the surprisingly temperate weather and other attractions may have helped just a little) and this year’s course was twice as long as previous years and called for strategic minds as well as stamina!
The Hibberts Solicitors’ team, was a father and son affair with Stewart Bailey and his son Tom, and John Gibbons and his son, taking the helm. They came a respectable 4th place, although a steward’s enquiry may well have been on the cards when the raft that beat them by just a few seconds happened to be pushed across the finish line by the RNLI rescue launch – somewhat of a helping hand. The winners had a brand new raft design, which was also used by third place and proved just too quick for the Hibberts crew.
Never mind – there’s always next year!
